EHS Wins Sweepstakes, 1st, Captions At Park Hills
For our second show of the season, the Wildcat Pride Marching Band traveled to Park Hills, MO in northern St. Francois county for the Rebel Invitational at Park Hills Central High School. This was a return visit after a third place finish last year. The week before was rainy, so we lost our normal field practices for most of the week, including our Thursday night. We added some visual elements to the program during these indoor rehearsals. They were plugged into the program on Friday, and we had an intense, detailed rehearsal on Saturday morning. The day ended with a first place finish in the blue division (large schools) and caption awards for oustanding music, outstanding colorguard, and outstanding drum major. Sorry to AnnaBart and MattD - no soloist was award was presented at this show; great job, by both. The awards ceremony at this show has a nice feature by presenting a sweepstakes award to the high scoring band of the day, which also went to Eureka; tops out of nineteen bands. This is the first time that we have placed first in a marching band field competition. Thanks to the staff and parents at Park Hills Central High School for hosting a nice show. Special thanks to all of the parents who helped us this weekend battling some tough logistics, misplaced equipment, and two snack feeds for the band. We appreciate you because we couldn't do it without you! Congratulations, band, on one of EHS' most notable achievements!
